Merry Christmas from the Palmetto State!

Merry Christmas everyone! I write to you from our new home in South Carolina. It was weird to not be with family on this holiday, but I’m thankful for the memories we made together, and that we were able to see both of our families before moving here.

After 2 and a half months of being back in Arizona, it was time to move again. We said goodbye to our friends and Curtis’ sister’s family down there and began our next adventure. We left on a Monday afternoon around 4, and arrived at our first destination in Arkansas on Tuesday at noon after driving through the night. There we visited with Curtis’ brother for the afternoon, getting a tour of his college campus and the Ozarks, then spent the night around Joplin, MO. On Wednesday, we drove up to Iowa, stopping to see my Grandmother for lunch and my brother Grant at college for dinner. We made it to my parent’s house that evening, where we stayed for 5 days. During that time, we also enjoyed visiting with my Nana and Popa. After that, we drove up to Michigan to see Curtis’ family in their new home, along with a stop to see my Aunt and Uncle. We made side trips while there to see both sets of Curtis’ grandparents before finally beginning the last leg of our journey – South Carolina or bust!

Curtis had never been to SC, and I had only briefly visited once when I was 7. We had no idea what to expect. When we left Arizona, we had applied for a home and were trusting that when we arrived, God would provide a place for us to move into before Christmas. And He did! After one night in a hotel, we were able to move right in this past Monday, and 2 days later, our Pod arrived with all our things that had been stored since May. We’re now settled down here and ready to start the next chapter. Our first impressions of SC are that it’s green, and what is this moisture in the air?! As for our new home, we are practically getting lost in our huge 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house! It is absolutely beautiful, and having a place to call our own for the next couple months is such a relaxing and peaceful feeling.

And so while we missed being with our families today, God is good all the time, and He’s given us everything we need. We are thankful for that, and thankful to be together and make new memories on our first Christmas alone.

P.S. Our 2015 in review will go live next Friday (New Year’s Eve)!! Don’t miss it! 🙂
